Bonnie Harris

    Bonnie Harris is the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for Education Integrating Science Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC) Program Director for the Georgia Intern-Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT) program. A collaboration of Georgia corporations, universities and K-12 schools and school districts, GIFT provides summer industry internships and research fellowships for K-12 STEM teachers. Bonnie’s background is in client relationship management with an emphasis on education policy. With more than 20 year experience managing collaborative relationships across multiple education, business, government, and community sectors, she has served as Executive Director of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce’s Atlanta Partners for Education Program; Communications Director for the Georgia School Boards Association; Congressional and State Legislative Liaison on behalf of National Education Association affiliates in Florida, Georgia, and Michigan; and as Regional External and Corporate Affairs Director for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), an international technology corporation.

    In her current position, Bonnie also manages Research, Experiment, Analyze and Learn (R.E.A.L.) which places high school students in STEM related university research internships and in business STEM internships; and the Siemens Region Six Annual Competition in Math, Science and Technology for high school student researchers from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Puerto Rico.

    Under her leadership, GIFT received the inaugural STEM Education Award from the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) in recognition of excellence in promoting STEM in Georgia, and saw the first ever GIFT teacher, Casey M. Bethel named 2017 Georgia Teacher of the Year.

    She serves on several civic boards, and speaks nationally and internationally on the subjects of teacher internships and the preparation of under-represented students for STEM careers.
    A graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Finance, Bonnie has completed leadership courses from The Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College, Boston, Massachusetts; Public Relations Society of America; and Electronic Data Systems (EDS) University, Plano, Texas. She is currently a member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce 2018 Leadership Cobb class.
